Hello!

My name is Alison. I’m a design and invention fanatic.

I’m passionate about working on products and experiences that leave positive impacts on their users and the world. I work with startups, small businesses, influencers, and global brands as a freelance design consultant, helping clients take products from concept through to finish, from sketch to manufacturing to shelf in the most ethical and sustainable way as possible.

About me:

  • I'm a Cuban-American principal designer from Los Angeles, now based in Barcelona. With 15 years of experience in industrial design, 3D product design, and experience design, I work with startups, small businesses, influencers, and global brands as a freelance design consultant, helping clients take products from concept through to manufacturing.

I estimate that the projects I’ve worked on have generated over $1 Billion for my clients and employers, especially when you include my work across the Tokyo Disney Springs and Shanghai Disney Imagineering work.

I call a few places home, so don’t really know what to say when people ask where I’m from or the culture I identify with the most. Whether it’s Southern California, Cuba, Northern New Mexico, South Korea, the UK, Canada, Sweden, or Spain (or the other places I’ve stayed), all of my “homes” have a special place in my heart.

  • I have worked with and for some of the world’s biggest brands.

    Luxury, Editorial & Celebrity Design

Some of the most high-stakes design work happens under the tightest deadlines. For Christian Dior, I designed and built a set piece in 72 hours that appeared on the cover of L'Officiel Magazine: the kind of project where craft, speed, and an understanding of how a luxury brand communicates visually all have to show up at once.

Beyond Dior, I have designed for household-name celebrities and high-profile clients whose projects remain NDA-protected, work that spans custom product design, branded objects, and bespoke physical experiences built around a personal or public identity. If you're a public figure, creator, or luxury brand looking for a designer who understands discretion as much as design, I am highly experienced and comfortable working at that level.

Working with public figures and high-profile clients isn't a departure from my normal, it's always been my normal. Growing up in Los Angeles and moving through professional design from my very first job onward, this has been the standard I've worked to my entire career. I understand the specific demands that come with that territory: discretion, precision, fast turnaround, and work that has to be right the first time.

    Entertainment, Experience & Character Design

At Walt Disney Imagineering, I was a 3D model team member who worked on immersive theme park experiences and interactive environments from early concept through physical installation. Work with Disney Consumer Products, Pokémon, Nickelodeon, Mattel, and San-X extended into character design, plush design, play pattern development, play set design, activity design, and branded consumer product lines. Jakks Pacific added licensed product design and toy development to the mix. This body of work represents one of the most technically and creatively demanding areas of product design where storytelling, manufacturing, safety standards, and the way humans physically interact with objects all have to work together simultaneously.

Consumer Electronics, Virtual Reality & Medical Design

Consumer product and virtual product design work with Samsung and Philips has spanned the full range of what modern industrial design looks like in practice: physical consumer product development, VR and XR environment design, 3D modeling and surfacing for mass-market manufacturing, and medical device training simulations. These are industries where the margin for error is essentially zero, and where the ability to move fluidly between the physical and digital product space is increasingly what separates a good designer from an essential one.

I’ve held a variety of professional design positions in the product and experience R&D industries. I’ve been responsible for delivering everything from interactive educational simulations to theme parks to plush toys, luxury jewelry to medical devices and consumer products.

  • Honestly? I'm happiest when I'm inventing something that doesn't exist yet. Give me a blank page, a weird problem, and enough coffee and I'll sketch and design away. I'm obsessed with the early chaos of ideation, the phase filled with research and questions, before anything is precious and the possibilities are endless. I’m equally obsessed with the craft of making it real. I love sculpting with my hands as much as I love building in CAD. I find trend forecasting genuinely exciting (yes, really). I have a soft spot for a perfectly structured Excel spreadsheet and zero shame about it. And “designing consciously, with real thought about people and the planet” isn't a values statement for me, it's just how I work. I grew up in Los Angeles, studied in London, and ended up in Barcelona two years ago.

  • Based in Barcelona, I work with clients across the EU, UK, and USA as a freelance industrial design consultant with an EU partnership Visa. No employer sponsorship required in any region. Remote collaboration and on-site project work are both available.

  • My technical foundation is in industrial design and 3D product development. I work across SolidWorks, Rhino, ZBrush, AI, and KeyShot to take products from concept geometry through photorealistic render and manufacturing-ready output. For scanning, reverse engineering, and quality inspection workflows, I use Polyworks, DesignX, and GOM. Spatial and environmental work extends into SketchUp, AutoCAD, 3DS Max, and BIM. For virtual and mixed reality design, I work in ShapesXR and Unity.

On the visual and communication side, I use the full Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro, and XD. This is all alongside Canva, Keynote and PowerPoint for client-facing presentations. I'm equally comfortable producing hand sketches and physical models as I am working in CAD; both are part of how I develop ideas.

The industries I've worked across include consumer product design, toy and play design, luxury goods and accessory design, jewelry design, medical device design, VR and XR design, theme park and environmental design, graphic design, and sustainability-focused design practice.

My process covers the full product development pipeline: user research, market research, trend forecasting, concept development, 3D design and digital sculpting, physical model making, design for manufacturability, factory interfacing, and direct manufacturer communication. I've delivered projects for clients ranging from independent creators to Fortune 500 companies, and I bring the same standard of craft and rigor to both.
